The Best Real Estate Brokerages To Work For In Tampa

Whether you’re a brand new realtor just starting your career in real estate, or you’ve been in the field for years and want to explore new opportunities, you’ve likely started researching real estate brokerages to work for. There are more than 100,000 real estate brokerages across the U.S. and well over 11,000 real estate agents in Tampa alone. When choosing a real estate brokerage for the next stage in your career, your choices may be overwhelming. We’ve compiled a list of top real estate brokerages to work for in Tampa to help you find your best fit.

Best Brokerage To Work For Overall: Eaton Realty

Overall, Eaton Realty is the best brokerage to work for overall in Tampa. Eaton offers support for both new and experienced realtors. In fact, Eaton offers a rewarding culture that encourages retainment. Over 80% of Eaton’s realtors remain in business after five years (that’s not a claim every brokerage can make).

The pay structure for the brokerage is very competitive. Unlike some brokerages with a fixed commission split, Eaton’s commission split is variable and increases as your experience grows. Many new Eaton realtors start taking home six-figure incomes after only their third year working for the brokerage.

Eaton Realty doesn’t just handle the purchase and sale of homes. Eaton Realty offers rental placement services and a growing property management division. This division provides additional job security for realtors. When the market is down, there will still be a flow of landlords looking to scoop up cheaper properties and tenants looking for a place to rent.

Pros Of Working With Eaton Realty

Excellent training program for new agents

No desk fees

Variable commission split that grows with experience

Transaction and listing coordinators keep you working efficiently

Positive company culture

Ability to make a larger impact with a smaller team

Less affected by market swings due to strong rental department

Cons Of Working With Eaton Realty

Best Brokerage For New Agents: Keller Williams

Keller Williams is a large real estate company with a recognizable brand and over 1,000 locations across the U.S. and Canada. Keller Williams is a great company for new agents due to their strong focus on training. Their training program, BOLD, is designed to train new agents how to generate leads and build their real estate business. They also have a training platform called Keller Williams University which offers on-demand training courses for professional development.

Agents at all levels working at a Keller Williams branch can expect relatively high commission rates and profit sharing. When someone recruited by an agent closes a deal, the agent who recruited that team member earns a portion of what the company makes, which has encouraged a culture of mentorship and team building.

Pros Of Working With Keller Williams

Positive company culture

Strong focus on training opportunities for agents at all levels

Commissions and profit sharing are guaranteed for all agents

Cons Of Working With Keller Williams

Focus on recruitment may become exhausting

Commission splits are not adjusted for high-performing agents

Market centers may charge a monthly fee

Minimal ongoing support

Best Brokerage For High-Performing Agents: RE/MAX

While RE/MAX also offers training and resources that benefit agents at all levels, they have a structure and compensation model that has more benefits for established agents who are high performing. That’s why RE/MAX is the best real estate brokerage for high-performing agents. Top-performing agents may receive up to 95% of the split on each commission. This may come with higher desk fees, but that’s an investment that high performers may be willing to pay.

RE/MAX has more flexibility around splits and desk fees and more flexibility regarding how agents receive their commissions. These are all negotiated locally, which can benefit successful agents who can leverage their hard work.

Pros Of Working With RE/MAX

Flexibility around commissions for high-performing agents

Company culture attracts high performers

A highly recognizable brand that creates trust in customers

Cons Of Working With RE/MAX

Monthly desk fees are typical

More limitations on training available to new agents

Strict rules around how you may use the RE/MAX brand

Best Brokerage For Part-Time Agents: eXp Realty

EXp is an entirely virtual real estate brokerage built for the digital age with no brick-and-mortar locations. This means that agents have minimal upfront fees and a high degree of flexibility - making this brokerage profitable and convenient for agents who only work part-time. The brokerage offers a competitive split on commissions and stock options for high performers and revenue sharing for agents who have recruited others. These incentives may favor full-time and high-performing agents, but anyone can work towards them, including part-time agents.

Structure for commissions is advantageous for part-time agents

Large library of training materials

Revenue sharing to reward recruitment efforts

Cons Of Working With eXp Realty
