History
Seminole Heights was founded in 1911 by T. Roy Young, who had 40 acres to develop Tampa’s first suburb. This area was located about 3 miles north of downtown and was named Seminole Heights.
Seminole Heights was one of the first residential areas of Tampa to be connected to the Tampa trolley line. This made it possible for area residents to live in the quieter area of Seminole Heights but get downtown for work easily.
The neighborhood was built at the peak of the bungalow house craze. These houses can still be found all over Seminole Heights, with high ceilings, low-pitched roofs, and large air spaces underneath. This style of house is perfect for the hot, humid climate of West Central Florida.
There were several periods of major development in Seminole Heights, bringing businesses and more residents. Many of the current businesses in Seminole Heights have been in operation for more than 50 years.

How Our Seminole Heights Realtors Can Help You Find a Home
Buying a house is a major financial decision that can make the process stressful. When you are looking to find a place that might be your forever home, you want to get it right. We can help you do just that.
Seminole Heights is a wonderful place to start your search. If you have decided that you want to live in the city, we can help you choose the neighborhood within Seminole Heights that best meets your needs. We will shepherd you through each step of the process, from compiling a list of wants and needs to viewing houses to making an offer and negotiating a deal. Our goal is to make the process of finding the perfect house for you as low-stress as possible.
Our Seminole Heights real estate agents use a streamlined three-step process to help our clients buy a house:
- Pre-approval: Most people have to stay within a budget when buying a house. We are firm believers that getting pre-approved for a mortgage is a great way to do that. A pre-approval gives you a better idea of exactly how much you can afford. It also forces you to take an in-depth look at your finances before you start the house-hunting process. You can also use our mortgage calculator to estimate your monthly mortgage payment.
- Search: With a budget in mind, you can start to look for houses. We will sit down with you to learn more about what you want (and don’t want) in a house. This can include everything from the size and style of your house to things like off-street parking, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and whether you want a fixer-upper or a turnkey house. We will then get to work to find houses in Seminole Heights for you. We can also suggest houses in similar neighborhoods if you are open to looking beyond Seminole Heights.
- Negotiate a Deal and Close: When you find the right home, you will need to make an offer. We will assist you with this based on neighborhood comps and other research. We can then help you negotiate an agreement for the house based on our years of experience in the market. If you are able to go under contract, we will advise you on next steps, like getting financing and scheduling a home inspection. We will then schedule a closing, which is the final step necessary to transfer legal title of your home to you. After closing, you’ll be able to schedule movers and start your new life in Seminole Heights.
