Once a rural farming community, the town is beginning to see residential and commercial growth as residents in and around Tampa look to find a quieter pace of life away from the city. Like many of Florida's towns, Wimauma residents love watersports. Fishing, boating, and kayaking are all easily accessible pastimes for the residents. Home to Little Manatee River State Park, hikers can take advantage of pristine waters and miles of hiking trails. Bordered by Hwy 301, east of Ruskin, Wimauma is expected to continue growing in the coming years.
