Valrico

Valrico is a suburb of Tampa and, as of the 2000 census, had a population of 6,582 residing in an area of 5.7 square miles.  The population has increased significantly since then, with many new developments and planned communities built within its boundaries. Valrico began as a region of cotton plantations known as Long Pond.

<a href="http://www.topix.com/city/valrico-fl">Valrico</a> began as a region of cotton plantations known as Long Pond.&nbsp; The arrival of the Florida Central and Peninsular Railroad, in 1890, brought many new immigrants from points north.&nbsp; Williams G. Tousey, a philosophy professor from Tufts College, gave the community its current name, Spanish for "rich valley".

The climate for Valrico is Semi-tropical with an average winter temperature of 62.5 degrees F and an average summer temperature of 81.4 degrees F. Riverview\'s average annual rainfall is 46.7 inches per year
